Seven sisters of seven sisters! A house that welcomes the true love of each sister; the wind that tells secrets. Only Christine Feehan can write such stories that seem entirely plausible. As she weaves enough reasonable facts with magical fiction, her stories are spellbinding and hard to put down. You may have noticed that I am a fan of hers, yet this is the first of the Frame Sisters books that I have read. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it, although it is not as in-depth and complicated as many of her other books. I look forward to reading the reminder of the sisters tales.

Magic in the Wind Drake Sisters Book 1 Christine Feehan 9780425208632 Books Reviews
I was so surprised that this book had received so many 5 star ratings. Christine Feehan has written many books and this book was listed as many reader's favorite series. I just don't get it. Magic is the first in the series. There is very little description or character building and then the reader is supposed to believe that they fall in love immediately. It's poorly written and skips around from point of view. I'm supposed to believe that the heroine is a security expert. It's so laughable because the author made a big point of her earring getting yanked out when she was working. Most security experts go to a lot of trouble to wear black to not reflect light usually don't put on dangly earrings. There was just no build up of any emotion. There certainly was no magic.
I have enjoyed Christine Feehan's Leopard series so I thought I'd give the Drake sisters a try. I love the idea of a family of 7 telopathic sisters. Sort of like Sookie Stackhouse x 7. Each sister has her own "gift" and together they can accomplish many things. Sarah is the spotlighted sister in this book. She is the eldest sister and is strong, independent and giving. Her love interest however, Damon, is disabled from a kidnapping/torture. He suffers from a lot of pain and his hip/leg don't work well. I found it really hard to get excited about a pairing between the two. He seems so needy. He falls in love with Sarah quickly and seems too dependent on her. I guess that isn't a trait I enjoy in my male lead characters. The flip side of this is they do seem to complement each other with their strengths and weaknesses. Sarah loves Damon with all her heart. I truly DO love an actual LOVE story. So many romance books out there today are just about sex. At least these two characters fall madly in love with each and accept each other for who they are.
I have ready the spin off series from the Drake sisters and I truly enjoyed getting to know Sarah and Damon's story because I've learned what Damon does for the government. It exceeds all expectations I have for one of the authors books. She creates characters that we fall in love with and builds on a town where more characters devolve their back stories and finding their HEA. MUST READ.
I started the Drake series in the middle with Oceans of Fire and then read on with Hannah's story. I thought it was a mistake starting in the middle, but after reading the first in the series I am not sure if I would have continued with the remaining books. I really enjoyed some of the later books in the Drake series, but the first was somewhat disappointing. It could be the fact that the book was rushed and crammed into 100 pages or so. For one, I thought Sarah embraced the prophecy a little too easily for someone who wanted so hard to avoid it. Two, I think Damon coped well with losing the full capabilities of his leg and hip. Personally, I would have been a little self-conscious about myself. If I was a man trying to measure up to a woman as independent and strong as Sarah I would have found that limp a little more of a problem for Damon than it was. I still think in the end he could have gotten over his pride to open up to Sarah I just thought that it happened a little too easily. Suspense is half the fun in these books and it didn't have much of it in this particular book. Three, I thought the relationship just happened so quickly even if it was a fated romance it could have developed a little more. I loved the way that I could still see the love-hate relationship between Hannah and Jonas even in the first of the series. It was a quick read and it gave me some background info on the Drakes so I do not regret reading it, but I do wish that it was longer and had more suspense.
Magic in the Wind is the first in the "Drake Sisters Series" that is brimming over with mystery, magic, legacy and a love story that begins with the Drake Legacy handed down from generation to generation. The Drake Sisters will cast their spell on you. Christine Feehan is resolute in her meticulous descriptions of the characters and the location. Absolutely enchanting!
Sarah Drake, the eldest of the seven, has come home to Sea Haven to fulfill a security assignment. Sarah is well aware of the Drake Legacy that has been pasted down from generation to generation in her family. The Drake's have a legacy of magical gifts that are inherited. Each Drake is possessed with unique magical gifts but when they all unite together as one - they are extremely powerful.
The seven sisters have kept the gate to their sea side home padlocked to keep unwanted people out - including the one that was destined to be their lifelong mate. They are all very independent and established that they do not want a man "telling" them what to do - so they avoid any entanglements. They have become very successful in their chosen occupations and are not interested in changing their lifestyle any time soon.
Damon Wilder, a brilliant government scientist was kidnapped, tortured and beaten to extract government secrets. While he was attempting an escape he was almost crushed by an automobile. He suffers not only the bodily injuries from the assault but he suffers from the guilt of watching his friend die at the hands of the murderers. He just could not divulge government secrets. So he resigned his position and set out to find a place where he could find peace. Something strong compelled him to settle in Sea Haven and buy a house. The long walks and the sea mist brought him peace along with the restoration of his house. Little does he know that he is being tracked and his life is still in danger again?
Settle in and feel the magic of this enchanting story.
